A programme to help tackle holiday hunger, physical inactivity and social isolation for some of the disadvantaged children in Hertfordshire returned to the county for the Easter Holiday.

The initiative which first ran in the summer of 2018 is a collaborative programme run by Herts Sports Partnership, HCL (Hertfordshire Catering Limited), Hertfordshire Fire Department and Hertfordshire Library Service.

Since announcing their partnership in July, Tilda Foodservice has donated 60,523 meals to the school-feeding charity, Mary’s Meals which provides daily meals to impoverished schoolchildren.

The six-month milestone was celebrated at Tilda’s headquarters in Rainham, where they were joined by Gerrard McMahon, fundraising co-ordinator at Mary’s Meals to mark the donation.

Fish and fruit prices have helped drive the Foodservice Price Index from CGA and Prestige Purchasing to 9.8% - its highest point of year on year inflation since it began in January 2015.

Chef Rick Stein has worked with Local Food Links (LFL) school chef, Dan Staple, who took a day off from cooking school food in LFL’s Bridport kitchen for Stein’s Sandbanks restaurant.

A 'revolutionary' new reusable label for the industry, which can 'eliminate' the need for at least 500 single-use labels, has been unveiled by Pro Foodservice Reps Ltd (PFR).

School caterer, Chartwells, has successfully ‘nudged’ secondary school pupils to choose healthier options whilst in lunch.
