Lexington Catering’s CEO steps down

Lexington Catering, part of Elior, who provide contract catering within the public sector, has announced that CEO Mike Sunley has decided to step down from his role at the end of 2019 following 17 years in the role.

Julia Edmonds, managing director of Lexington, will take over the leadership of Lexington and the Elior City business, with Mike supporting the transition process until the 31st December 2019.

School caterer Cityserve has been declared the Best Catering Service Team at the 2019 Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards, which recognise frontline services provided by UK local authorities.

The Craft Guild of Chefs has revealed the seven young chefs who passed its 2019 Graduate Awards, following an exam at Westminster Kingsway College (29 August).

Regarded as ‘one of the hardest skills tests in the industry’, a total of 15 chefs undertook the final kitchen or pastry exams - after completing an online entry form and regional heats.

To join the Graduate Awards hall of fame, the chefs had to achieve a pass mark of 85%.

West Lothian Council has increased the proportion of Scottish meat served in its schools to 88% since joining the Food for Life Scotland scheme in November 2018.

Environmental charity Hubbub, has announced the winners of The Cup Fund, which gives funding to UK programmes to increase paper cup recycling.

The selected programmes will receive grants of between £50,000 and £100,000, all funded by the Starbucks 5p cup charge. The aim of The Cup Fund grant is to develop long-term infrastructure and to bolster paper cup recycling.
