A consultation on the future of allergen labelling has been launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS).

Closing on 29 March, the consultation will seek information on four possible options:

  • Promote best practice (no change in law)
  • Add “ask the staff” stickers to packaging, staff would have to provide information orally and in writing if asked

Veg Power and ITV have partnered to launch a ‘ground-breaking’ initiative that encourages children to eat more vegetables, with a new national campaign - ‘Eat Them To Defeat Them’ - airing tonight (25 January).

The full line-up for the School Chef of the Year sponsored by McDougalls national final has been revealed including the judges’ wild card picks.

Consumption of sugary drinks by children has fallen by a third over the last nine years, the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey has suggested.

The change has contributed to an overall reduction in sugar consumption, however all age groups still had above the recommended levels of sugar.
